Orpheus: Empowering Communication Through Music for Adults with ASD

In this project, I contributed to the design and development of the Orpheus System, an innovative tool that uses musical improvisation to enhance communication, expression, and therapy for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our team created a modular, interactive game board that transforms physical movements into a symphony of sounds and visuals, making the benefits of sensory rooms more accessible. By focusing on inclusivity and user-centered design, we aimed to foster social connections and emotional well-being in a fun and engaging way.

Why Orpheus

"Orpheus is a hero in classical Greek mythology, most commonly associated with music and poetry. The Greek god Hermes might have invented the lyre, but Orpheus perfected it, and his music was said to move all living creatures to dance.

Orpheus represents both the beauty and the power of music and creative expression – gifts that this product aims to make more accessible for the ASD community, as tools for communication, expression and therapy."
